![]() The face-to-face CSEW resumed data collection on 4 October 2021 the nine months of data collected have been used to produce estimates in the Crime in England and Wales year ending June 2022 publication. TCSEW data collection took place between and 31 March 2022 information on the TCSEW can be found in this Quality and Methodology Information (QMI) report and our Update to comparability between the Telephone-operated Crime Survey for England and Wales and the face-to-face Crime Survey for England and Wales published on 27 October 2022. ![]() The face-to-face CSEW was suspended on 17 March 2020 because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic a telephone-operated Crime Survey for England and Wales (TCSEW) was designed to allow us to continue measuring crime while the face-to-face CSEW was suspended. The main aim of the CSEW is to provide estimates for the types of crime and the population it covers it does not cover crimes against businesses or those not resident in households, and also excludes homicide and crimes often termed as "victimless" (for example, possession of drugs). The CSEW is a face-to-face victimisation survey asking residents of households about their experiences of a range of crimes in the 12 months before the interview. ![]() The Crime in England and Wales statistical bulletin provides detailed information on different types of crime on a quarterly basis using two main sources of crime data: Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime.
